Welcome back! As you can see from the title this is a transparency post, meant to give a bit more insight into how God has played a role in my life, as well as giving a look at some of the darkness He’s pulled me out of. That being said I pray it blesses and encourages you:
I used to really struggle with self hated. I had plenty of love, in my heart for others but none for myself. Looking back I remember walking around with this burning inferno in my chest. An anger so intense it justified the self harm I indulged in throughout middle and high school. It’s only recently where I’ve been able to look in the mirror with anything other than disdain for myself.
As a follower of Christ and a believer of His promises I can see how my mindset contradicted with the Word of God and gave way to the enemy. I felt unworthy of the love of God and felt it was only right to be subject of demonic torment. I didn’t think the Word applied to me, and it took me a long time to begin to let the Scripture work it’s way into my heart so that I could receive it. Just like Jesus when He overcame the temptation of Satan with the Word, I now use what God said about me to overcome the lies of Satan that I used to mistake as truths.
I’d like to share some Scriptures that I’ve found hope and encouragement in, and I pray they help and revive you, as they’ve helped and revived me
- “For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenenant of peace shall not be removed” says the Lord, who has commansio on you —Isaiah 54:20
- The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident —Psalm 27:1-3
- Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. —Isaiah 12:2
- Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; You stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand delivers me. The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your steadfast love, O Lord, endurse forever. Do not forsake the work of Your hands —Psalm 138:7-8
- “For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” —Jeremiah 29:11
Untill next time, God bless you!
